    The fastest way you can get the search engine spiders or bots to notice your site is to submit it to them. However, it has been said that if you want to appear on Google listings, sometimes submission won’t be necessary. Google has its ways of finding your site even if you don’t send them your URL.

    However, it pays to give Google a helping hand by submitting to them the URL of your site. You will be able to do that through this link:
http://www.google.com/addurl. MSN, Yahoo, and other major search engines also provide webmasters this option.

    The Google Add URL page explains that this submission offers no guarantees of how well the site will rank on search engine results pages. That, of course, still depends on how well SEO factors are integrated into a site. Furthermore, when you submit to Google your site’s URL today, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will appear on the lists tomorrow.

    From the Google Add URL page, you will also be reminded that the home page URL will be the only one you need to submit, and not any other pages under it. You may also opt to add a short description of your site for Google’s reference or file-keeping purposes. Again, this has no effect on ranking or how soon your page will appear on listings.

    For Yahoo, you have to option of getting the paid listings, or the free listings. Their link is at http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html. As mentioned in other chapters, you may submit your products in the Yahoo Shopping Directory, and the cost per submission depends on the product category, such as books, electronics, clothes, and others.
