Error Trapping

Error trapping or error handling is a method by which a webmaster can perform site maintenance, and at the same time, that site can still be indexed if ever bots or spiders come across it.

This error trapping is commonly done by setting up a 404 error handling page, as in Google. This usually tells the visitor that that said site is “not found”. Experts say that you should be able to properly implement your 404 page along with your Robots.txt file so that your site can still be indexed.

More on how to set up your own 404 page can be explained to you or provided to you by your web host, so you should contact them for additional information.
